Monumental Miniatures was opened December 1,1996 at 274 Washington St., Monument, Colorado. Monument offers a small town feeling in a growing community. Most of the shops are in individual houses that have been converted for business use and are usually run by the owner. Since I live a mile or so from this quaint village, it seemed the perfect place to start my retirement business. After a 40 year career with United Airlines and as a life-long collector of miniatures the store gave me a perfect place to enjoy my retirement and indulge my interests. Adding a toy store in 1998 broadened the shop's appeal and gave me a new generation of customers. This is a customer friendly store; one can touch most of the miniatures in the store. Even though dusting is a constant activity, I feel touching the merchandise is important. My good and faithful clientele comes from as far as Cheyenne, Wy., Albq.,N.M., New York, N.Y. .Some even come to visit from England and New Zealand as well as other states and countries. I enjoy a good reputation for finding the perfect hard to find miniatures for the collector as well as the first time miniaturist.
